update from Maggie O'Keefe 7/12/26
Coming back from a vacation, I am SO THRILLED to see how Ana’s therapies are helping. Ana is currently going through seven therapies, 5x a week, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. She’s beginning to track with her eyes and respond to cues. It’s really remarkable to see her progress in just 10 days time.
Beginning Wednesday, July 15, Ana’s therapy will no longer be provided by insurance. That means, every dollars you’ve helped fund kicks in starting then. Therapy is at minimum 30 minutes per session and we are moving forward with the therapy regiment given the progress seen.
We are hosting a community gathering and fundraiser in support of Ana on Monday, August 10th 20% of all sales will go to Ana’s recovery. Plus, a raffle and/or silent auction is available to host.
COMMUNITY ASKS:
1. Silent auction items — if you know of a small business who’d like to contribute, please help by outreaching on my behalf and CC maggie@maggieokeefe.com. If you can help source donations, your support would be extremely helpful.
2. Place the community gathering on your calendar for Monday, August 10th at Long Room on Ashland and Irving Park!

We have raised more than $33,000 toward a goal of up to $150,000. Every donation helps provide the therapy Ana needs to continue making progress and regain as much independence as possible.
On a personal note, Ana’s recovery has become a central priority in my life. I spend multiple days each week by their bedside and am helping manage the finances associated with their care. Knowing that we can pay for the necessary therapies lifts an enormous weight from Ana's family and allows us to focus on what matters most: the next steps in recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to read Ana’s story and for supporting them and their family during this incredibly difficult time. Please reach out if you have any questions.
More updates soon.
